Two days later, in the evening time, Alexis was in the study reading a book when all of a sudden, she heard the
sound of engine in the yard.
She immediately guessed that it must be Leonel.

Getting up from her chair, she went straight to the French window to see what was going on.
Through the maple trees, she saw Leonel getting out of a black limousine.
The sight of him made Alexis’ heart tremble for no particular reason.
In just two days, Leonel seemed to have lost sweight but somehow his face looked even more handsome
than before.
Being as handsand rich as he was, Alexis was sure that if Leonel wanted to get remarried, he would have no
problems finding an excellent woman for himself.
With this thought running through her mind, she stared at him quietly through the window.
Leonel seemed to feel someone staring at him.
He raised his head and looked in her direction.
Immediately, their eyes met.
But neither said anything to the other.
After a while, Leonel opened the trunk of his car and pulled out his luggage which he promptly carried into the
house.
Before long, Alexis heard his footsteps as he walked up the staircase.
She left the window and turned towards the door.
“Leonel, is that you?” she called out in a soft voice.
“Yes, it's me.
I'm back,” Leonel called back.
“It all went well.

I flew back as soon as the matter was settled.
As he spoke, he put down his luggage and cto meet her.
He raised his hand as if he wanted to touch her face, but he suddenly changed his mind and withdrew his hand.

" Alexis nodded.
“Evelyn and Daniel are at my parents’.
When Leonel heard this, he stopped in his tracks and said, “Well, let them stay there for the night then.
I'll take you and Cordelia there in a few days’ time.
Leonel had made up his mind to let go.
But being a very stubborn man, he didn’t want to do it now.
He wanted to wait till the last moment of their parting.
