Chapter 736 Restless Nights
James was exhausted as he dragged himself upstairs with a weary sigh.
Meanwhile, Michael asked Chloe if she had eaten dinner.
“I have. If you haven't, just heat something in the microwave,” Chloe replied.
Except for breakfast, which Candy had made, the rest of their meals for the day were takeout.
It wasn’t that Candy didn’t want to cook; rather, Chloe had insisted she shouldn't, given the state she was in. It
felt wrong to let Candy take on more work.
“I grabbed a bite with James while we were out. Glad that you're not hungry,” Michael assured her.
That night, Chloe didn’t sleep well. She wasn’t sure if it was because she knew someone had died, which made
her keep waking up from nightmares.
Every tshe closed her eyes, it was either she was being murdered or she witnessed someone else getting
killed.
She woke up several times.
The last tshe was startled awake, she noticed that her room

was filled with people. The lights were on, and everyone was staring at her in concern.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMichael was the first to speak. “Chloe, are you okay?”
Chloe, still confused, asked, “What are you all doing in here?”
“You were having a nightmare and yelling in your sleep. We heard you, so we cto check on you,” Candy
explained.

When she saw Chloe frowning in her sleep, drenched in sweat, she was terrified. If it hadn’t been for James's
insistence that it
was dangerous to wake someone suddenly from a nightmare,
she would have shaken Chloe awake.
Now that Chloe was finally up, Candy turned to James with a frown. “Who told you that? That's just superstitious
nonsense.”
James's expression didn’t change. “Sguy from Fita in my unit mentioned it once.”
He wasn’t sure if it was true, but he didn’t want to risk harming Chloe.
Candy rolled her eyes at James when she heard that.
Chloe knew she had been having bad dreams, but she had no idea she had been screaming and disturbing
everyone else. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she apologized. “I'm sorry. | didn’t realize | was making noise.”
“It’s fine. Here, drink swater,” Michael said softly.

He didn’t mind being woken up at all. In fact, he was glad he could be by her side when she was scared.

After taking a few sips, Chloe felt the lingering fear in her chest ease a bit.
“Chloe, what did you dream about? It must have been awful,” Candy asked curiously.
Chloe thought about it but couldn’t remember any details. It had all seemed so vivid while she was asleep, but
now everything was a blur.
“It's good that you didn’t remember,” James chimed in. “That means it was just a dream.”
Candy shot him another look, wondering how this guy, who'd spent years abroad, suddenly knew so much about
dream interpretation.
“Is he going to start talking about astrological charts next?” she thought.
It was still early, so after Chloe had calmed down and wasn’t scared anymore, everyone returned to their rooms
to sleep.
Michael stayed behind, sitting on the sofa.
“Aren’t you going to bed?” Chloe asked.
“I'll sleep here,” he said. “That way, if you have another

Chloe raised her brows. “You're going to sleep on that tiny sofa?”
The couch was far too small for him, and if he slept there, he'd have to curl up uncomfortably. She knew his legs
would be numb by morning.
“It’s fine. I've had enough sleep already,” he replied.
Chloe sighed. “Suit yourself.”
Since she couldn't get rid of him, she decided to let it be.
Closing her eyes again, she drifted off as the moonlight spilled through the window, casting a soft glow on her
face. Watching her sleep, Michael felt a calm in his heart like never before.
