Chapter 254 "So..." Jason clears his throat. "Can you still... you know, have kids?" Brian's face darkens. "We don't know that either. After all we are a mix, so we are not sure if we can a sire kids with either of the two species. Being hybrid has probably messed our bodies, so we are not sure if that's still possible." I nod my head, my thoughts on his answer. I mean, even if he sleeps with a wolf, what will the baby be? Or if it's a vampire, what will the baby turn out to be? Biologically speaking it seems impossible for a hybrid to mate with either a werewolf or vampire, but hey, we now have hybrids something that was thought to be impossible, so I guess anything is possible, right? Alec shifts beside me, tension radiating off him in waves. "Who do you worship?" he asks. "The moon goddess or the vampire god?" A muscle ticks in Brian's jaw. "Neither." Silence crashes over the room like a tidal wave. I hear a sharp intake of breath, then another. I glance around and see shocked faces, wide eyes. Even Micah looks like he's been punched in the gut.
Neither? I understand their shock and surprise. it's almost blasphemy to be a werewolf, even half wolf, and not worship the goddess.

My stomach twists. Of course, they worship her. Xena is their creator, the one who made them what they are. I no longer believe in the moon goddess, but still, hearing that they worship Xena feels all kinds of wrong.
A howl echoes through the night, shattering the tense silence. The full moon has risen.
Alec rises to his feet, his gaze sweeping over the room. "Everyone outside," he commands, his voice hard and authoritative. "Wait for me." I stand, my heart pounding, but just as I start to move, I spot a lone figure hovering near the entrance. Piper. Her eyes are wide, her hands wringing nervously as she shifts from foot to foot. She looks... miserable. Desperate.
Without thinking, I change direction.
"Sadie," Alec calls, his brows knitting together. But I don't answer.
Piper's eyes widen as I approach, her lips parting. "Sadie?" I study her, taking in the flushed cheeks, the way she trembles. She's suffering. The heat is tearing her apart, and her mate is locked up in the dungeons. Despite everything that has happened between us, I still feet for her.

I take a deep breath and say what I wanted to say before I changed mind. "I'm letting Calvin out. Just this once." Piper gasps, tears springing to her eyes. "Oh my god, Sadie, thank you!" She is practically jumping up and down like a little kid who's been told they get to spend a day int the toy store. "But," I warn, voice hardening, "If he tries to run, I will kill him."
Piper nods, her face a mask of relief and joy. "I swear. He won't. Thank' you. Thank you.
Her happiness is palpable. I haven't seen her this happy in along time. thing eases insidein a way bringsa sort of peace.
I turn to leave, and Alec is there, his 6 Durning as he watches me. I can speak, he leans ine breath hot against my ear,
"Thank you," he murmurs, his voice thick, husky, and that sends delicious shivers down my spine.
