Chapter141Mrs. Cooper's Critical Condition The nurses guided Penelope to the Doctor's office to thoroughly check Mrs. Cooper's medical condition and make a treatment plan. A full box of the expensive medication was prescribed immediately! What Penelope didn't realize was that the stthat she was with the Doctor, Fiona seized the opportunity to slip into the hospital room.

Mrs. Cooper lay in her bed, weak and unconscious, while Fiona rudely shook her awake. "Hey, old lady, wake up! No tfor sleeping," she snapped.

Seeing no response from Mrs. Cooper, Fiona grew impatient and pinched her harshly. "Still feel groggy? Your grandson is dead!" Mrs. Cooper gasped, jolted awake by the pain.

"It's you?" she exclaimed in shock at the sight of Fiona. "What are you doing here again? Nurse, nurse!" Mrs. Cooper tried to call for help to drive this malicious woman away.

"Heh, it's not like I'm going to do anything to you," Fiona said, "just cby for a chat. Last time... we had quite a nice little talk, didn't we?" Mrs. Cooper glared at her. "You're spouting nonsense, and I won't believe a word you say! My daughter is the only one I trust!" "I swear, if I'm lying, may my whole family drop dead. I'm telling you the absolute truth. Shon those who've been keeping you in the dark. I felt sorry for you and wanted to fill you in on what's really going on." "What have you cto tellthis time?" Fiona's smile was laced with malice. "Did you know that Penelope is pregnant?" "Last time, you said she... she married Kelvin, so that means the baby is..." Mrs. Cooper's eyes widened in shock! "Yes, that's right," Fiona confirmed. "Penelope is carrying Kelvin's child." "Is this..." "I told you, she's nothing but an outlet for Kelvin's needs. Getting pregnant is only natural," Fiona said with a laugh. "But you shouldn't worry too much." Mrs. Cooper pressed, "Why shouldn't I worry? For a woman, pregnancy is a huge deal!" "Because then she had a miscarriage." Mrs. Cooper's heart struggled to keep up with the rollercoaster of emotions. Every piece of news was like a bomb exploding! Fiona's glee intensified. "And guess what? Kelvin took her to the operating room to terminate the pregnancy. Can you imagine how much he despises Penelope, even harming his own child..." "No, that can't be true," Mrs. Cooper's complexion turned ashen. "I don't believe it. You're making this up... Get out. I don't want to hear any of this. Leave now!" "Letfinish. Penelope's body, going through pregnancy and then a miscarriage, always having to warm Kelvin's bed... It's just unclean. Carrying a child with no right to birth it, living a life even worse than women who sell themselves." Mrs. Cooper was so furious that she collapsed on her hospital bed.

Fiona kept on talking. "Every penny you use is earned through Penelope's body, selling herself to the very enemy that tore the Cooper family apart. Penelope's life is ruined now. What man would want her after this?" "Did she really think that marrying Kelvin made her the high and mighty Mrs. Davis? Every tPenelope thinks about visiting you here, she must beg Kelvin miserably to please him until he's satisfied. Think about it, doesn't she seldomly visit, and whenever she does, her visits were always so brief?" Mrs. Cooper's chest heaved as she lay there with her eyes closed. "Shut up, just shut up..." She raised her hand, her shaky finger pointing at Fiona, "You're here just to torment me. I won't listen. Nurse, somebody gets her out... Penelope, where are you, Penelope!" Fiona grasped Mrs. Cooper's hand and pushed it back under the blanket, "Just lay back and don't work yourself into a frenzy, okay?" "You, you..." "Oh, by the way," Fiona flaunted the ring on her finger. "Isn't it gorgeous? Sparkling? It's worth millions, a gift from Kelvin." Planning your weekend reading? Mrs. Cooper felt a surge of fury. "He gave it to you?" "Yeah, did you really think Penelope was the only woman in Kelvin's life?" Mrs. Cooper's eyes rolled back as she twitched and then collapsed onto the bed, passing out completely.

"Hey, old lady..." Fiona called a few times, "I only said a few words. Surely you didn't just die on me, did you? Hello?" After several pinches with no response from Mrs. Cooper, Fiona started to panic. She reached out to check for breath...

It seemed... She was not breathing! A chill shot through Fiona's heart as she staggered back and hastily exited the room. She hadn't expected Mrs. Cooper to be so fragile...

If she were truly dead, Penelope would cafter her with all she had! Fiona bolted from the room, disoriented, and was about to take the elevator when Penelope emerged from the Doctor's office. They collided head-on.

"Fiona!" Penelope's heart sank upon seeing her.

Fiona was even more panicked, never expecting to encounter Penelope at the last moment.

"What are you doing here?" Penelope strode forward and grabbed her, "What did you say to my mother?" "I, I didn't say anything wrong! I told the truth!" Penelope tightened her grip on Fiona's wrist, "You have no right to gossip about my affairs!"

"Ah!" Suddenly, the nurse screamed, "Doctor, get the Doctor! The patient... her eyes are unresponsive!" 'What?' Penelope rushed to the bedside, "Mom, mom!" she cried out heartbreakingly, but Mrs. Cooper was unresponsive.

Several doctors with grave expressions walked in, pushing the hospital bed toward the operating room. "Initiate the rescue efforts we the need to prep for surgery... I need a family member to sign here! Issue the critical condition notice!" Chaos erupted in the room.

As the sterile click of the operating room door sealed shut, two worlds were irrevocably divided.

The critical condition notice was promptly handed to Penelope. "Please sign here," the nurse instructed.

Penelope's hands trembled uncontrollably, unable to grip the pen.

"Fiona!" In a sudden outburst, Penelope spun around and lunged at Fiona, who was cowering in a corner, "Fanything happens to my mom, I swear, I'll kill you!" "I didn't... I didn't even touch her!" "It's because of what you said to her!" Penelope roared. "You upset her!"
