Chapter 178 Sending Penelope Away He glanced at the clock and asked calmly, "Where is Penelope?" "Mrs. Davis..." Ryan replied, "At King Manor." "Bring her here," Kelvin ordered.

Everyone knew that Grandpa Davis had issued a strict order and without his consent, Penelope wasn't to set foot outside The King Manor! With a lift of his brow, Kelvin asked, "What's the matter? Can you not understand my word?" Seized with an idea, Ryan said, "It's pretty late. Mrs. Davis must be... must be sleeping by now..." Ryan thought the excuse was ingenious.

As expected, Kelvin fell silent for a moment.

Indeed, it was almost dawn.

She must've been scared and anxious these past few days, certainly not in the best of spirits.

After a pause, Kelvin instructed, "Get the doctor." Ryan followed his command, "Yes, Mr. Davis." Upon the doctor's arrival, he greeted Kelvin respectfully, "Mr. Davis, are you feeling unwell?" "I need to leave the hospital for about two hours," Kelvin stated. "Find a way to secure the wound so I can get out of bed and move around." The doctor was speechless.

Ryan was shocked.

Where was Mr. Davis planning to go? What could be so urgent that he'd neglect his recovery? "What are you waiting for?" Kelvin's face darkened with impatience and demanded, "Get ready." "Mr. Davis, vour arm is severely iniured. The saving is that it takes a hundred davs to recover from such injuries. You've just awakened. How could you possibly..." the doctor began.

"That's why I'm asking you to find a solution," Kelvin interjected.

Otherwise, he would have already tossed the covers aside and gotten up.

Kelvin wanted to see Penelope.

If she was asleep, he thought it would be wonderful to glance at her quietly and keep her company.

"Hurry up," he urged, his patience wearing thin.

The doctor and Ryan exchanged glances, neither daring to comply.

Kelvin's expression grew dark and remarked icily, "What, my word doesn't count for anything now?" "Mr. Davis," the doctor ventured, "is there an emergency?" Kelvin replied, "No." "Then why..." the doctor was baffled.

"I want to see my wife," Kelvin clarified. "Is that a problem?" The doctor and Ryan were at a loss for words.

Such a reason left them unsure of how to respond.

They looked at each other, both silent.

After all, they couldn't afford to offend Grandpa Davis either. What a dilemma! The door to the ward burst open. "Are you out of your mind? Do you not want your hand anymore? For a woman, you're wrecking yourself? Kelvin, I'm truly disappointed in you!" Grandpa Davis said as he stormed in, his face a shade of stormy gray.

He had barely reached the corridor outside when he heard that Kelvin was planning to return to The King Manor to see Penelope. The anger hit him like a thunderclap! Seeing their savior had arrived, Ryan and the doctor made themselves scarce.

Kelvin, however, remained composed, replying, "Grandpa." "So, you remember I'm your Grandpa!" he said sarcastically.

"Blood ties, the kinship-it lasts a lifetime, indelible," Kelvin said. "What brings you here so late, Grandpa?" "Lucky, I came, or else you'd be off to see that bitch, Penelope!" he stated angrily.

So he thought he'd drop by the hospital for speace of mind.

And then he walked in on that infuriating conversation, and it was almost enough to make his blood boil! Kelvin challenged him, "Isn't it because you restricted her freedom, preventing her from visiting me, so I felt compelled to go to her?" "She needs to be as far away from you as possible!" Grandpa insisted.

"Then why, when I woke up, was she there in my ward?" Kelvin retorted.

Grandpa Davis was momentarily at a loss for words. "That, that..." he stuttered.

Kelvin spoke calmly, "Because you know she's the one who could wakeup and look after me. When you need Penelope, you let her come, and when you need not, you discard her." Thinking of the injustice Penelope endured under Grandpa's roof, Kelvin felt a fire of nameless rage in his chest. Anyone else would've faced severe consequences by now! "Either way, you're getting a divorce from Penelope immediately!" Grandpa Davis declared. "She can't stay by your side. I won't watch your father's tragedy befall you, makingendure the heartbreak of burying my child twice over!" Kelvin assured, "Penelope won't harm me." "But you're willing to die for her! Kelvin, I've groomed you with painstaking effort to be my successor. How can you throw away your life for a woman?" Grandpa Davis asked, furiously.

A smile crept across Kelvin's lips.

Grandpa Davis's beard bristled as he barked, "Why are you smiling!?" Kelvin pointed out, "Grandpa, do you realize? On several occasions, Penelope had the chance to kill me, but she never did." "What?!" The older man was shocked. "How could this happen? Where was your sense of danger? What are your bodyguards there for, allowing such peril?" "Don't you see that she didn't killbecause she loves me?" Kelvin explained. She did love him.

Just the thought made Kelvin feel elated.

Grandpa Davis always said that he was lovestruck. Kelvin never saw the downside to that. Titles like "ŒŒB,TM "rich kid optycoon" never really appealed to him. He much preferred being known as "husband under his wife's thumb."

"Grandpa, please do not meddle with my relationship with Penelope m Kelvin said, halfereminder, half-warning. "Otherwise, it might strain our bond." "Are you threatening me?" Grandpa Davis asked angrily.

"No, just a reminder, Grandpa," Kelvin responded. "It would be best if you lifted Penelope's grounding." Without a second thought, Grandpa Davis refused, "No way!" The more Grandpa Davis saw Kelvin's deep devotion, the more convinced he becto send Penelope away - the farther, the better. She was nothing but trouble - a fefatale! Penelope couldn't stay! Straightening up, Kelvin prepared to get out of bed.

"What are you doing?" Grandpa Davis rushed to him, holding him in place. "Your arm is in a cast; you need to keep still." Kelvin insisted, "I need to see Penelope." He missed her.

No one could stop him from seeing her.

Grandpa Davis gritted his teeth; he was familiar with Kelvin, having nurtured the head of the Davis family! With unwavering determination ingrained in his being, once he decided on a course of action, no one could sway him.

"Let's talk about this tomorrow!" Grandpa Davis took a step back.

"No. I can't wait," Kelvin said, stubbornly.

"It's 10:00 p.m.; Penelope has gone to bed," Grandpa Davis replied with irritation. Do you want to wake her up from sleep?" Upon hearing this, Kelvin lay back down.

"I want to see her at 8.00 a.m. tomorrow," he asserted, "And want her grounding lifted. Otherwise, I'll go see her myself." Grandpa Davis turned and left, slamming the door behind him so hard that the frrattled.

In this round, Kelvin won. Using his injured arm, he had successfully cornered Grandpa Davis into capitulation.
