Girl Get Ride 47

Chapter 47

The detective's voice was all business. "We've got your report, and we'll be opening an investigation into the

assault. But we're also charging you with aggravated assault. Whether it was self-defense or not is for the court

to decide."

Allison nodded. "Okay."

After posting bail, Allison stepped out of the police station and into Joshua's car.

“I'll make a call to get those charges dropped," Joshua suggested.

Allison shook her head. "No need. | believe | can handle this on my own."

The night had fully descended, leaving the world in a hushed stillness. Joshua's face was barely visible in the dim

light.

His voice was gentle, “Allie, you always try to take on the world by yourself. You know you can lean on me,

right?"

Allison paused, letting out a sigh. "When my mom passed away, | was in a slump for a long time," she admitted

quietly. “Then, when my dad remarried. | felt like | didn't have anyone left to be close to.”

Silence enveloped them as they sat side by side in the car. The darkness hid the sadness in Allison's eyes as she

forced a lighthearted tone, “So, | just got used to handling everything myself.

Because | don't really know who else | can count on."

Joshua felt a pang in his chest. He looked at Allison with concern, "You have me."

Allison stayed quiet.

Olivia's words from earlier had planted seeds of doubt in her mind. Joshua's so-called sister, Lillian, might have

feelings for him that shouldn't be there. As far as Allison knew, Joshua had always been indulgent with Lillian. -

Even though he had chewed Lillian out for being rude to Allison the day before, it was clear his anger

was more

about Lillian's lack of manners and the embarrassment she brought to the Fisher family name-not about standing

up for Allison.

Allison knew she didn't hold the splace in Joshua's heart as his sister, who had shared his childhood. If a

conflict ever arose between Lillian and her, Joshua would likely side with Lillian.

To avoid disappointment later, Allison decided not to expect too much from Joshua.

Joshua felt a bit defeated. He sighed, gently ruffling her hair, “Allie, just remember, no matter what, I'm always

here for you."

Allison kept her head down, murmuring a soft “Okay.”

After dropping Allison off at home, Joshua made a call to get the aggravated assault charges dropped.

Then he rang his assistant. “Find out which hospital those guys bothering Allie are in and take care of it.”

The tattooed guy had just been through surgery and was resting in his hospital bed. The blond guy was in the

bed next to him.

A man wearing a mask walked into the room. The blond and the tattooed guy recognized him. He was the one

who had paid them $5,000 each at the bar to harass that woman.

If it weren't for him, they wouldn't be in this mess!

Now, the tattooed guy's future was shattered; his chance of having kids was gone. This couldn't be settled with

just $5,000!

The tattooed guy was furious, "Why didn't you tell us she could fight? Now I'm wrecked!"

“Quiet,” the man said impatiently, “I'll give you each $30,000 more. When the police ask, just say you acted

impulsively and don't mention anyone else. Got it?"

The blond guy agreed right away, “Sure."

He only had a dislocated arm, and with a cast, he'd be fine. Thirty grand was a big win for him.

But the tattooed guy wasn't happy. “Thirty grand? You think this is a joke? I'm ruined! | want a million!” Chapter
