Chapter 222

Jessica quickly signed, "It's not that | don't trust you."

The real problem was that she'd been spending too much taround Herbert lately. Timothy would definitely

assHerbert was helping her, and she couldn't predict what Timothy might do if he got suspicious.

"If you trust me, then stop overthinking it," Herbert reassured her. "Besides, you don't even need to go abroad

for this treatment. He's already taughtthe method-you can just cto my clinic."

Jessica was able to speak a little today, though her throat was sore and scratchy. She was already considering

whether she'd need to get her vocal cords checked at the hospital tomorrow. After all, she hadn't spoken in

years; her vocal cords had probably atrophied.

She didn't feel comfortable seeing any other doctor-one slip and people might find out. Right now, she could only

make a faint sound; she still wasn't sure if she'd ever truly speak again. If others caught wind of this, there'd be

endless speculation and gossip.

When it cto medical issues like this, Herbert was the safest option.

Now that the Wheeler family had settled down for the tbeing, she was just seeing Herbert for

treatment—not asking him to recommend a divorce attorney. If she kept a low profile and didn't let Timothy find

out, it shouldn't cause any trouble for the Wheelers.

Jessica mulled it over for a long tbefore finally nodding her agreement.

By then, Sheila had already left The Gilded Whisper Estates.

Timothy had answered her questions, but nothing he said satisfied her. Over the years, she and Timothy had

crossed paths plenty of times, but this time, now that she was back in the country, Sheila felt as if something

fundamental had changed. After Sheila left, Timothy didn't return to his room. Instead, he dialed Mr. Smith.

"Still awake?"

"Yeah, I'm up. What's up, Tim, calling so late?"

"I'm your main investor for this new film. Think you can squeeze in a role for someone?"

Mr. Smith chuckled. "Tim, are you trying to play the casting couch gnow?" "You could say that."

Timothy knew Mr. Smith's style-he was picky about his work and handpicked every actor himself. They both knew

Sheila, and if Mr. Smith hadn't approached her, he must have had his reasons.

Sheila rarely asked him for favors, but this time, she'd made her intentions clear- she really wanted the part.

Mr. Smith hesitated. Timothy had never asked for a favor like this before, and without Timothy's backing, Mr.

Smith's first film might never have seen the light of day. Now that Timothy was finally asking for something,

refusing him would be hard to justify.

"Tim, I'm still waiting to hear from someone. If she turns it down, | can give you the role."

Mr. Smith wasn't ready to give up on Ines's student just yet.

"Is she that important?"

"Yeah. I'm really drawn to her work. But maybe she'll say no. Givea few days?"

Mr. Smith wanted to wait a little longer.

"Alright. Letknow when you decide."

Timothy didn't push for an immediate answer. He understood that Mr. Smith's high standards were what made

his movies such hits.

The next morning.

Early, Jessica left her apartment and ran into Vince at the front gate.

"Hey, haven't had breakfast yet, have you? Want to grab something together?" Vince had visited Jessica's new

apartment yesterday. She'd just bought the place and only recently moved in; she probably hadn't even

unpacked her kitchenware yet, so there was no way she'd cooked at home. She'd left in a rush last night— she

owed Vince an explanation.

More importantly, Jessica had a hunch Vince could help her with her divorce. She climbed into Vince's car.

They headed to a breakfast diner not far from her place. After they ordered, Jessica pulled out her phone and

typed out a message.
