**Avery** I lay in my bed as I slipped in and out of consciousness. I try to scream for help, but my voice is barely a whisper. Pain stabsin every one of my joints causing my body to contort into weird shapes. My tendons feel as if they are a rubber band about to snap. Also, my body feels as if it is on fire as sweat begins to bead on my forehead and drip into my eyes causing them to burn. I hear a loud crack and I scream as I am plunged into darkness.
**Clint** We are following, the best we can, our dragons as they fly towards the palace. As we are doing so, we glance at each other in bewilderment. We are all thinking the sthing 'How could our mates have been in the palace when it was vacated for our Grand Ceremony?' Once our dragons neared the palace, they shrunk down to the size of a medium-sized dog and flew through an open window. It would have been so much easier had they remained in our bodies and guided us. Unfortunately, our dragons, like sother noble dragons, have beccrazed by the desire to mate. They abandon their human to seek out their mate and return often days or a week later.
The floor that our dragons entered happens to be the floor that our rooms are on. Anxious to see our mates and their dragons, we raced up the steps two and three at a time. Once we were on our floor, we checked our rooms first but there was no sign of our dragons so we checked the other rooms. Saving the last room at the end of the hall nearest the servant staircase for last, we walked together. This room is Avery's, but our dragons can't be in there because she's human.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI knocked lightly, but when there was no answer and we heard our dragons cooing, I opened the door. Laying on the floor next to Avery's bed were our dragons and they were curled around this slightly smaller iridescent white and blue dragon with golden scales around its small horns forming a crown. The female dragon is rare and extremely beautiful.
"Mate," Carter says in my head.
I look at my brothers, "Did your dragons say 'mate' too?" Then they nodded as our eyes moved up the bed. There, lying on top of her faded comforter was Avery, who appeared to be sleeping, wearing only a torn slip. But she looked different because there was a light tan to her once-pale ivory skin. Her hair was thicker and longer and it now had highlights that reflected true red and golden blonde hues.
Confused, Cassius asks quietly, "If Avery had a dragon, why did it stay hidden and allow her to suffer?" Conner looks at us, "Also, could stype of magic have been used?" "Brothers, I wish I knew those answers. Maybe her dragon can tell us.” "I know that you love a threesor an orgy, but it won't happen. We don't share!" Cassius exclaims too loudly which causes Avery to bolt upright.
She screams at first in shock but it quickly turns into terror once she spots the four dragons lying intertwined on the floor beside her bed.
"No! No! Don't touch me! Stay away!" Avery screams in terror. This won't be easy and it certainly isn't how I thought I would find a mate when I was ready for one. Fate is a cruel mistress, but even though my mind might say that I am not ready my soul is and my body has already begun to ache for her.

I could use our telepathic connection to talk to him, but I don't want to further frighten Avery. "Carter, take our lovely dragon mate to our room. You all need stto get acquainted while I talk to Avery. She's afraid, and my brothers and I need to explain to her what happened.” Carter and Avery's dragon glance at Avery with a combination of sadness and hope in their eyes while Caleb tugs at Asher who is reluctant to leave. I understand his reluctance because out of all of us, humans and dragons alike, he has the most to regret.
**Conner** I wanted to rush to her and hold her hand, but I knew that she could recoil. I can't risk her rejectinglike that. I need to be patient and ease her into accepting this new development. I exchanged a look with my brothers before I slowly approached Avery with my hands up in the air. "I know that you were attacked by a dragon when you were younger

you don't trust us or dragons, but please givea chance to show you Chanes why you should trust us with this," I begged as I pointed between her, myself, and my brothers. I looked at Cassius and then the faded robe that was hanging on the back of her door. He handed it toand I held it out to Avery as I covered my eyes with my free hand, "Please put this on, and then giveyour hand." "Why?" she asked.
I smiled as I nodded, "Because sthings you must see in order to open yourself up so that you can believe." I hope
this works, because if it doesn't then I am at a loss as to how to helphen how to accept that she is the thing that she once feared and that fate needed it to be this way for a reason. Once she accepts her dragon, we can uncover why it stayed hidden for so long. It is imperative that we learn our mate's past because we need to know why she has multiple mates.
