Chapter 105

“How is she?” Izzy asked the moment the doctor got out of the emergency room.

Seeing her, the doctor approached Izzy and asked, “Are you a patient's relative?”

Before Izzy could respond, a voice interjected beside her. “I'm her mother,” Amalia said. “You can tell me

everything.” The doctor nodded respectfully. “Unfortunately, we were unable to save the fetus. However, the

mother is stable and recovering. She'll need rest and monitoring over the next few days.”

Amalia’s face crumpled as the news sank in. The doctor offered a brief, sympathetic nod before excusing

himself, leaving the group in tense silence.

“My god...” Amalia mumbled. “How could this happen?”

As if realizing something, Amalia paused. Then without a moment's hesitation, Amalia turned toward Izzy, fury

blazing in her eyes. She raised her hand to slap her. But just as the hand swung forward, it was intercepted mid-

air.

Liam stood beside Izzy, his grip firm around Amalia’s wrist. “Think again,” he said coldly. “You really want to do

this?”

The unexpected intervention left Amalia stunned. She hesitated, her gaze shifting between Liam's icy expression

and Izzy's unreadable one. Slowly, Liam released her wrist, but he did not step back.

At that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the hallway. Cecil Weiss and Calen arrived, their

faces pale with worry. Cecil glanced around frantically. “How is Monica?”

“She... she lost the baby!” Amalia cried out. Overcwith emotion, she started breaking down into sobs. “And

it’s all her fault!” She pointed a trembling finger at Izzy.

Cecil's face tensed as she and Calen looked at Izzy. Despite this, Izzy remained calm, standing tall beside Liam,

who crossed his arms and watched the scene unfold without a word.

“Is that true?” Calen asked hesitantly.

Sadly, Amalia was far from done. Before Izzy could answer, Amalia stepped forward, her tears flowing

uncontrollably. She clasped her hands together and cried, “Why, Izzy? Why would you harm Monica? | know you

hate us, but why would you take it this far? Why would you hurt an innocent child? Are you that evil?”

Izzy opened her mouth to respond, but Cecil was already by Amalia’s side, gently guiding her away from Izzy.

Cecil's expression hardened. “The Weiss family lost someone of their blood today. This will not go unanswered,”

she said. “We will do whatever is necessary to seek justice for Monica.”

Hearing this, Amalia buried her face in her hands and wailed, “My poor child! My grandchild is gone!” She

stumbled slightly, and Calen reached out to steady her. But just as she appeared to calm down, Amalia suddenly

lunged at Izzy again. Liam stepped forward to block her path, but Amalia pointed an accusing finger at Izzy.

“If I had known you would turn out like this,” Amalia cried, shaking with anger, “I would never have taken you in

after your parents died! | thought | was raising a good person, but you've always been cold. Always distant. But |

never imagined you'd go after a helpless child!”

Izzy rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “Are you finished?” she asked. “You have no idea what happened, yet

here you are, accusingof something I didn’t do. Where's your evidence, Amalia?”

Amalia froze, her mouth hanging ajar. The tears on her face stilled as shock registered in her expression. For a

moment, she seemed at a loss for words. Then she collapsed into a nearby chair, sobbing even harder.

“I raised you wrong. | failed,” Amalia moaned, clutching at her chest tically. “If only | could turn back time.

Maybe then you wouldn't have beclike this. Maybe | could have taught you shumanity.”

Cecil crouched beside her, rubbing her back and nodding solemnly as if in agreement. Meanwhile, Calen glanced

between them and then at Izzy, still struggling to understand what had just happened.

“What an actress,” Izzy mumbled as she sighed and stepped back slightly, watching the scene unfold like a

theatrical performance. She could see the manipulation plain as day, but said nothing, letting Amalia continue

her charade for now. Luckily, she wasn’t alone in all this. Liam was still standing by her side, protecting her from

whatever or whoever was going to try to attack her.

“Do you need anything?” Liam asked.

“Water will do,” Izzy said. Liam nodded and then immediately walked toward a vending machine. While he was

doing this, Calen quickly moved to Izzy's side.

“What happened?” he asked.

“Monica asked to seein a café. She fell and had this,” Izzy said.

“Isn't it because you pushed her!? You pushed her and killed her child!” Amalia screamed as she shot to her feet

and lunged at Izzy again, her arms flailing wildly. Before she could make contact, Calen grabbed her shoulders

and pushed her back

mly.

Enough!” Calen barked, holding Amalia at a distance. “What is wrong with you? You're accusing Izzy without any

proof. Why are you acting like this?”

Amalia staggered but steadied herself, her hands trembling. She glared at Calen, her tears streaming down her

face. “Because Monica would never have lost that child unless something terrible happened! She treasured that

baby with everything she had!”

Calen pinched the bridge of his nose, visibly frustrated. “And what does that have to do with Izzy? You weren't

even there, Amalia. You're going off assumptions.”

“I spoke to the first responders,” Amalia retorted, clutching her chest. “They said Monica hit her back hard when

she fell. How could that happen unless Izzy pushed her?! You think this is just scoincidence?”

“She fell, Amalia,” Izzy cut in, her gaze cold as she glared at the woman. “In the middle of a café, full of

witnesses. | didn’t touch her. You think | would do something like that in public?”

Amalia’s eyes narrowed as she clutched Cecil’s arm for support. “You've always been cold, Izzy. You're capable of

anything! And now Monica's baby is gone because of you!”

Izzy shook her head in disbelief. “You want to talk about proof? Bringa single witness who sawlay a Until

hand on her.

Amalia faltered, momentarily caught off guard by Izzy’s calm defiance. She turned to Cecil for reassurance. In

response, Cecil nodded solemnly. “We will get to the bottom of this, Don’t worry, Amalia. The Weiss family has

resources. We'll find out the truth.”

Hearing this mother’s words, Calen sighed and ran a hand through his hair, glancing uneasily between the

women. “Amalia, you need to stop. This isn’t going to bring the baby back. Let's focus on Monica's recovery

“Recovery?” Amalia snapped, her face twisting in anger. “She lost everything! She's going to be devastated!”

She broke down again, wailing loudly, drawing the attention of hospital staff and nearby patients.

Izzy frowned. Clearly, this was another scheme, but what was the end goal? She looked at Liam, who was

walking her way. This man had arrived almost immediately when she called him. Was he there for the upcoming

show as well?
