Feeling the gaze of Nora, Emma looked over, and when she saw Nora, a faint smile appeared on her face, then

she walked a few steps closer to Nora, took her hand, and behaved affectionately.

Nora hated this and tried to pull her hand out, but she had to keep quiet. Emma held her hand with a lot of force,

and no matter how hard Nora tried, she couldn't pull it out.

“Nora, we haven't seen each other for over two years,” said Emma with a smile on her face.

Nora nodded, her tone cool and distant. “Yeah.”

Emma could sense the distance in Nora's tone but decided to play dumb.

Nina watched their interaction curiously. “Nora, do you know this young lady?”

Nina was the only daughter of Frank. After Matthew inherited the Davis family, Frank moved to Shecrity with

Vivian and Nina.

From then on, they rarely returned to Sivro. This time, they cback because of Nora's welcbanquet.

Therefore, they didn’t know about Emma and Robert.

“But you seem so close,” Nina said, puzzled.

Rachel, trying to smooth things over, laughed awkwardly, “Emma is just friendly by nature. She seems close to

everyone.” Emma’s smile faded at Rachel's words. She realized that Rachel was eager to distance herself from

her.

Rachel had initially liked Emma. After all, Emma had been with her for many years. Even though Emma couldn't

be her daughter-in-law, she wouldn't treat her like a stranger.

But seeing Emma’s behavior now, Rachel felt she might have misjudged Emma for being innocent and pure.

Emma had managed to wrap Robert around her finger in such a short time.

Moreover, showing up uninvited to this event was a serious breach of etiquette, not at all the behavior of a

proper high- society lady.

Rachel concluded that no matter how well Emma had been raised, her true origins were still questionable.

Nora pulled her hand out and subtly moved away, creating sdistance between them.

Seeing this, Robert hurried over and hugged Emma. “Emma, it’s alright.”

Frank frowned. “Matthew, is this what you call ordinary friends?

Matthew's face turned dark. Vivian was speechless that Frank couldn’t read the situation.

Frank didn’t seem to see that Matthew and Rachel were distant towards Emma.

Oblivious to the tension, Frank continued, “If you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine. | won't ask anymore.”

Before she could finish speaking, Robert interrupted, “Frank is right, she is my girlfriend.”

Matthew's face turned red with anger.

When Emma heard Robert say these words firmly, she was overjoyed and looked at him with tears in her eyes.

Rachel helped Matthew to relax, and explained, “They don’t know what liking is. They're just messing around.

Don’t take it seriously.”

Vivian heard the meaning of Rachel's words, and it seemed that they were dissatisfied with Emma.

Frank and Linda were all adults. They could understand what Vivian meant.

They remained silent, sensing the tension.

Emma felt utterly disappointed. She couldn't believe that Rachel who had once liked her so much, could be so

cold now.

Rachel used to like her in the past, but now, just because she was hot a Rosewood, everything was different. She

inwardly scoffed at the reality of it all.

Robert, about to argue back, was silenced by Nora's cold glance. “Robert, do you really have to make a scene at

my welcparty?”

Robert's words died in his throat. He looked at Nora, guilt written all over his face. “I'm sorry, Nora. | didn’t mean

to ruin your party.”

He then turned to the others. “I apologize. Since I'm clearly not welchere, I'll leave now,” With that, he took

Emma’s hand and led her out of the room.

Matthew was furious. “That bastard!”

“Hubby, don’t be angry. Robert will understand in the future.”

“That's right, Matthew, Rachel is right,” Linda added, looking worried.

Frank, feeling guilty for stirring up trouble, chimed in, “Matthew don’t be mad,” If he had known the truth, he

wouldn't have asked.

Although Robert left the venue early in anger, the banquet had to continue.

The waiter brought in the dishes and placed them on the large round table before leaving.

Rachel invited everyone to sit down and eat. They all put on smiles and made small talk, but the atmosphere

was strained. Half an hour later, the meal was over, and everyone left the private room and headed downstairs

Matthew and others walked ahead, while Nora and Nina followed behind.

As they reached the first floor, Nora glanced over and saw a tall figure sitting by the window. She instantly

recognized him.

A year ago, they met in Morgania. She had been his date for a dinner party. Thinking back to that night, her
