Elysia did not take the menu, only shaking her head. “Odalyn, this is more than enough.”
Upon hearing this, Odalyn said nothing more and handed the menu to the waiter. “Just these, please,” she
instructed.
“Please hold on a moment.” The waiter stepped away.
At the Jackson residence, the stores had already delivered the clothes that Odalyn had purchased. Watching the
pile of garments being brought inside, Logan's eyes widened in astonishment. “How much has Mom bought?”

Berenger, holding a magazine, lifted his cup of coffee and took a casual sip before remarking, “Why do you care
so much? It’s not your money being spent.”
“Dad, that’s not what | meant,” Logan said, shifting his gaze as he edged closer to Berenger. “Dad, am | not your
real son?”
Upon hearing this, Berenger raised his eyes to him, his tone filled with a hint of scrutiny. “You don’t want to be
my son?”
“Of course not. To be your son is a blessing I've earned over many lifetimes,” Logan replied, his voice sincere.
“Speak up. What do you desire?” Berenger pressed, curious to know.
“Ah, you understandwell, Dad,” Logan said with a bright smile, his expression innocent and earnest. “I've
had my eye on that off-road for quite stime. How about you buy it for me?”
Without a moment's hesitation, Berenger swung the magazine at Logan's head, playfully scolding him. “With so
many cars in the garage, you still want another? Should | prepare for an expansion of the garage soon?”
“That would be perfect!” Seeing Berenger raise his hand again, Logan quickly sidestepped. “Dad, gentlemen do
not resort to violence.”
Only then did Berenger set the magazine down on the table, irritation creeping into his voice. “You need to
abandon that playful nature. If | were sick, the company would have to rely on you.”
“Dad, what nonsense are you talking about?”

Berenger huffed coldly. “Report to my company next Tuesday, and as for that off-road car, I'll agree to buy it.”
Logan's spirits soared at the news, nearly making him leap with joy. But then Berenger added, “However, the
financial authority lies with your mom; you'll need her approval.”
Hearing this, Logan's joy faded, and his head drooped. “Dad, if Mom agrees, why would | even cto you?”
“In any case, I've given my consent; ensure you show up at the office next Tuesday,” Berenger instructed firmly.
Logan thought to himself, ‘Dad is incredibly cunning.
“Oh, and one more thing,” Berenger said, glancing at Logan's red hair with evident distaste. “Dye that tuft of red
back to a more conventional color.”
Logan, hearing this, collapsed onto the sofa, wearing an expression of utter despair.
“Dinner is ready,” Penelope, the maid, announced, entering the room.
“Where are the ladies?” Berenger inquired, rising toward the dining table.

Chapter 136
“Mrs. Rosewood just called to say she is dining out with Elysia, Penelope replied.
Berenger nodded, feeling that the meal before him suddenly lacked flavor. He pulled out a chair and sat down,
noticing Logan's delay. He prompted, “Logan, it's tto cat,”
Logan pouted; his dad usually paid him no attention unless his mom was absent.
Yet, since his Dad had summoned him, Logan felt he must honor it. With his hands in his pockets, he approached
the dining table.
However, as soon as he settled into the chair, Berenger declared, “I'm full” Logan stared at Berenger
incredulously, looking at the barely touched food on the table, bewildered.
Logan thought, ‘Is dad really full? Usually, Dad’s appetite far exceeds this. What has caused his appetite to
diminish today?
Penelope also wondered if she hadn't prepared a meal to Berenger’s liking. But that shouldn't be the case. After
pondering briefly, she realized it was likely due to Odalyn’s absence.
Indeed, Berenger and Odalyn had always shared a solid relationship. Without her, his appetite seemed to wane.
At that moment, Berenger stood up, casting a glance over the remaining dishes. He turned to Logan and
commanded, “Make sure to finish it all. Do not waste food.” He strode back to his study.
Logan thought, ‘Could | refuse?’ Dutifully, he finished about half of his meal and slumped back in his chair.
“Penelope, please clear this away. | find it unsettling to look at.”
“Okay,” she replied.
After dinner, Logan waited at the door, but despite his anticipation, neither Odalyn nor Elysia returned, and the
wait grew increasingly dull.
Earlier that morning, Odalyn had mentioned taking Elysia to the mall, and while he had intended to tag along,
Odalyn’s pressure made him reconsider reluctantly.
He had grown accustomed to it. Odalyn had long been unhappy with him, and since Elysia’s arrival, that disdain
had only intensified.
Before Elysia arrived, Odalyn had been rather dismissive of Elysia, claiming that after eighteen years apart, she
couldn't feel any attachment to her niece. However, Elysia was welcto visit anytime.
Initially, he had thought Elysia would surely face cold treatment from Odalyn. He thought he would protect Elysia
from any mistreatment.
But unexpectedly, days before Elysia’s arrival, Odalyn had prepared their largest guest bedroom for her,
furnishing it with the finest and most expensive decor available.
He remembered teasing his mom about her conflicting emotions. She had said she was just being polite. Logan
felt that all his previous concerns had been in vain.
Look at the bond between Odalyn and Elysia; it was far better than the one she had with her own son.
When Logan spotted the black sedan entering the villa, his eyes gleamed with anticipation-they had finally
returned. He hurriedly opened the back door of the car.
Upon seeing him, Odalyn appeared quite surprised. “You're behaving rather well today,” she commented,
curiously.

“I am always well-behaved,” Logan replied, puffing out his chest a bit.

Odalyn shot him a glance. “Speak up. What do you want?” She knew her son all too well. In moments like this,
he usually had srequests. Otherwise, he rarely sought her out.
Hearing Odalyn’s blunt words in front of Elysia made him swallow his words. Today was certainly not the right
moment. He needed to maintain a good image of a cool brother before Elysia.
“Mom, can’t you consider the possibility that | simply missed you, which is why | waited here?”
“Really?” Odalyn raised an eyebrow, eyeing Logan skeptically.
“Of course it’s true,” he insisted, trying to sound convincing.
“Well, Ill take your word for it-for now,” she decided, softening slightly.
Only then did Logan step forward to help Odalyn out of the car, offering an awkward smile. “Welchome,
Mom.”
