Chapter 35
Elysia sat there, taking the scolding. Her brow furrowed just a bit
She thought, ‘When they tried to shoveinto Class 6, Grade 7 they didn’t say squat about losing face. Now
I'm just dipping out of Class 1, Grade 12, and they're all bent out of shape
‘Bella said | was using tricks. Seriously? Would a mom say that to her own kid? They always hear Emma’s side of
the story, no matter what"
Over on the couch, Logan looked like he'd bitten into a lemon, especially when Bella started ragging on Elysia.

He used to think Bella was the understanding type. She showed her preference for Emma, but he figured she
could tell right from wrong. Now, he realized he was way off base.
Elysia hadn't even gotten a chance to explain herself since she walked in. They just started hollering at her, and
not in a nice
way.
Logan couldn't believe a mom would talk to her kid like that, wondering what Bella was thinking. Scott was a
whole other story; he'd always been like this.
Logan could see Elysia was getting the shaft. He'd been at the Rosewood residence for a while and noticed Elysia
wasn't exactly having the tof her life there.
“Bella, even if Elysia messed up, you shouldnt chew her out like this. She’s still your own flesh and blood,”
Logan said, his voice as steady as a rock.
Elysia glanced over at Logan on the couch. In this family, he might be the only one who'd stick up for her without
a second thought.
Bella's temper flared the second she heard that, and she retorted, “My daughter isn’t like that!”
‘What's she getting at?
anything like this. Hallingnot her daughter? How stupid is that? Emma made a million mistakes, but she

anything like this. Her favoritism is so obvious,’ Elysia thought to herself.
She sauntered over and plopped down on the couch, giving Bella a teasing look and saying coldly, “So, what kind
of person is your daughter? The kind that frames people or plays the pity card?” Then she threw a pointed
glance Emma’s way.
Emma's face went beet red with anger as she thought Elysia was trying to embarrass her in a sneaky way.
“What nonsense!” Bella bellowed.
“I'm not spouting nonsense. These are cold, hard facts. | don’t have the knack for making up stories on the fly
like your daughter does,” Elysia retorted, her voice unwavering.
“Elysia, why are you saying those things about me? | just heard it from my classmates, and you know, where
there's smoke, there's fire. If it wasn’t true, why would everyone be talking about it?” Emma said, her eyes
getting all misty, looking all wronged.
Bella wrapped her up quickly, whispering comforting words. “Emma, Mom and Dad are on your side. Don't cry,
honey.
Elysia snorted inwardly, thinking, “They believe her? Figures. These are, my so-called parents. Emma pulls her
usual tricks and Bella’s right there, eating it up.

‘Maybe Bella knows better deep down, but she picks Emma's side, and she believes her no matter what. What
am | to Bella? Soutsider? Or worse than an outsider?”
“Bella, what do you mean by believing Emma?” Logan was seeing red now. He was just a guest at the Rosewood
residence, but seeing them bully Elysia like this, he couldn't keep his mouth shut.
“Logan, this is the Rosewood family’s business!” Scott piped up, his voice tinged with irritation.
He was clearly ticked that Logan was butting in and wanted to remind him that to the Rosewood family, Logan
was just soutsider who had no business getting involved in their family .
Logan was about to say something again, but Elysia gave his arm a little tug and shook her head, signaling for
him to lay off. She didn’t want him to get sucked into the Rosewood family or help her clean up her
messes.
“You heard it from your classmates?” Elysia scoffed, giving Emma a teasing look. “You seriously believe all that
gossip? Have you been living by hearsay all these years, never bothering to check the facts, Emma?”
“I just said, there's no smoke without fire. If it wasn’t true, it wouldn't be spreading around school,” Emma said,
her voice
firm.
Elysia looked at Emma like she'd lost her marbles, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “You gotta use your brain, not
your ears, Emma. You're an adult now, right? How cyou don’t have any backbone of your own? Believing
rumors over truth? That's pretty pathetic.”
On the surface, Elysia was talking to Emma, but she was also taking a swipe at Scott and Bella. They were just as
guilty of only listening to Emma's side of the story.
Scott's expression soured. He was a sly old fox who'd been in the business world for years, and he knew a good
line from a bad one.
Though he was ticked off, he couldn’t blow up right now. If he started yelling, he'd be admitting that he was just
as spineless, relying on rumors to figure out the truth.
All he could do was swallow his anger and ask Elysia, “If this isn’t the truth, then what is?”
Elysia chuckled. She knew Scott would ask this because he cared about his image. “I wanted to go to Class 6,
and it had nothing to do with the test.”
“How can you prove that?” Scott said, frowning.
“You can call Levi,” Elysia said, her voice steady.
Just hearing Levi's nreminded Scott of the last time. If he called again, Levi would say something harsh.
Scott was the chairman of Rosewood Group, and he didn’t need Levi putting him down. He quickly dropped the
idea.

Emma also remembered the last incident. If Scott called Levi, he wouldn't get any answers, and Levi might even
side with Elysia. She suspected there might be sshady deal between Levi and Elysia.
But then she had a brainwave and said, “Dad, the monthly exam results are coming out tomorrow. We'll know if
Elysia’s lying just by looking at her scores.”
Scott nodded, thinking this was a great idea.
Seeing Scott agree, Emma was over the moon, thinking, This time, Elysia’s going to fall right into my trap. | don't
believe a dropout like her can get any good grades.

She looked at Elysia and asked, “Elysia, what do you think of this plan?”

“Whatever makes you happy!” Elysia thought to herself, figuring as long as Emma didn’t regret her decision
tonight, she'd play along with whatever gEmma wanted.
Seeing Elysia didn’t object, Emma was ecstatic. She’d been waiting for this day for so long. She just couldn't wait
for Elysia to be taken down, and the sooner, the better.
Once the issue was settled, Scott didn’t feel like sticking around and went back to his study. Bella and Emma,
each with their own schemes, couldn't sit still either and went straight to their rooms.
For a moment, the living room was left with just Logan and Elysia. The air suddenly grew quiet.
“Elysia, I'm heading back to Shecrity tomorrow,” Logan said, his voice a bit heavy.
“Really? That sudden?” Elysia asked, her voice showing a hint of surprise.
“Not really, I've been out for a while. It's tto.head back,” Logan said, letting out a sigh. “Once I'm gone,
there won't be anyone to look out for you.”
