Chapter 519 By the tNadine cto her senses, Brad was already gone. Not long after, the sound of a car engine revving up echoed through the courtyard.

Nadine watched Brad's silver Aston Martin drive away until it was out of sight before she let her guard down. Even though this place had once been her sanctuary, she felt uneasy and uncomfortable every tshe saw Brad.

If it had been in the past, she would've been over the moon if he treated her like this—but that was then. Now, she had outgrown the need for empty words of love.

Love couldn't put food on the table. She'd rather pursue financial stability and independence. Nadine didn't see the point in loving someone anymore.

Brad had given all his love to Jean and spent a fortune on her, which was enough to prove he genuinely loved her. Nadine couldn't help but wonder how she could have been so blind back then.

She could only blherself for being so foolish and unable to see past her infatuation. Looking back, she realized that love wasn't everything. Once she let go, she understood it wasn't as important as she thought.

She couldn't fathom how she could have been so consumed by love. Falling in love with a man would only lead to misery, and feeling sorry for them would result in a lifetof misfortune.

Hence, she had no sympathy for Brad when he offered to leave the house to let her and Sean stay the night. Nadine believed he was just doing this on a whim. He probably thought she'd always been compliant and agreeable, so he never felt the need to put in any effort, treating her as if she were dispensable.

Now that his "pet" was misbehaving and on the verge of leaving, he realized how lonely he was, so he decided to lure her back and treat her like an amusing pastonce more. Unfortunately for him, Nadine was much more level-headed now. His mind games no longer worked on her.

Besides, he was just a replacement. He wasn't that important to her. Once her wounds healed, Brad wouldn't have any hold over her emotions.

Nadine didn't look away until Brad's car vanished into the distance. Then, she went to Sean's room, locked the door, freshened up, and slept beside her son.

Sean's warmth and sweet scent washed away all her negative emotions, filling her heart with hope for the future. She knew that if she worked hard and built her career, she could leave Brad in the past and finally be happy.

Content, she held her son tightly, closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep. As for where Brad went, she couldn't care less.

Brad drove aimlessly around Hamilton Estate, drifting through the darkness of the night without a destination like a lone, lost bird. The kaleidoscope of lights illuminated his cold, impassive face, yet one of it could warm his heart.

With one hand on the steering wheel and a cigarette between his fingers, he occasionally stuck his hand out the window. The frigid wind howled past, and the cigarette glowed a faint. crimson in the dark, endless night-just as lonely and desolate as he was.

Recently, Jean had let him down so many times that he didn't even want even want to see her anymore in fact, he almost dreaded the thought of seeing her. Cameron dropped a bombshell on him a couple of days ago.

Apparently, the man who previously crashed into Nadine was a friend of Jean's cousin, Brad had already sent someone to look into it discreetly, and he'd report back to Brad if Jean was involved in the incident.
