Chapter 585 Lynn saw Brad rushing into the ward to confront Jean at Valor Military Medical Center. She had always admired him and desperately wanted to spend more twith him, even if it was just for a minute.
Hence, when she saw Brad push open the door and step inside, she didn't rush in after him. Instead, she hid outside, watching from a distance.
Lynn liked him, yet she was well aware of the insurmountable distance between them. A man of his stature was born to be admired from afar, unattainable by those of ordinary means. Consequently, she contented herself with watching him from the shadows.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhen she witnessed Jean being forcibly dragged away by the Hamiltons' bodyguards, her heart instantly dropped. She realized that Jean's actions had turned Brad against her. He would never have treated her like that otherwise.
Knowing Brad, he was never one to resort to violence against women and had little interest in them. If that wasn't the case, he wouldn't have had only Jean and Nadine by his side all these years. Jean must have crossed a line, and that was what had angered him.
Lynn felt uneasy as she thought about how Jean had asked her to hire trolls to tarnish Nadine's reputation. She remained hidden in the shadows, too afraid to show herself, fearful that Brad's wrath might be redirected toward her as well.
Still, she was certain of one thing. Since Jean had been taken away, she was next in line to face retribution. "This won't do. I can't just sit around and wait for disaster to strike!" she thought.
She needed to find a way to protect Jean. It was her only chance to get closer to Brad.
While she was racking her brain to figure out a way to help Jean, she received a text message. "You have received a direct deposit of 40,000 dollars. Description: Severance pay and compensation of three months' salary." The second she read the message, tears cascaded down her cheeks. Lynn clamped her hand over her mouth to silence her cries. This wasn't how things were supposed to end! She aimlessly scrolled through her contacts until she cacross Gigi's number, and her eyes lit up. Back when Jean was hospitalized at Harborview Hospital, Gigi often cto see her. It was obvious that they were close.
Gigi genuinely liked Jean and would always bring her little gifts. Because she cared for Jean, Gigi was worried that something might happen to her.
As such, Gigi had given her phone number to Lynn with instructions to call if Jean ever found herself in a tough spot and needed help. No matter when, she'd pick up, even if it was in the middle of the night.
