Chapter 873 From the moment Brad learned of Jack's existence, an inexplicable panic settled in his chest-a fear that seemed to rise from the depths of his soul. He had heard Nadine calling out Jack's nin her sleep on several occasions, trapped in the grip of nightmares.
In other words, during the six years they had been together, Nadine had never truly forgotten Jack. Every tshe woke up in the middle of the night, it wasn't him that occupied her dreams, but Jack.
"Am I destined to be Jack's substitute just because I look so much like him? You're so freaking cruel, Nadine Scott!" he thought broodingly.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEver since he learned about Jack's existence, Brad had Cameron investigate everything about him, especially his relationship with Nadine. Cameron had brought him a lot of photos, all of which showed Nadine and Jack holding each other. In those pictures, she was radiant, her eyes brimming with joy.
The two of them were young and full of life, riding bikes together, flying kites, catching fish by the stream, traveling, and attending joyous parties.
Each photo he looked at deepened the bitterness in his heart. If she loved Jack so much, why did she say she loved him? How could Nadine Scott love two different people at the stime? Conversely, he and Nadine didn't have a single photo together-not even a wedding picture. Nadine had never kept a picture of him on her phone either. Once, after a particularly heated argument, Brad had stormed off to his study while Nadine retreated to the storage room. Moments later, he overheard her quiet sobs, so he pretended to walk past the storage room.
He glanced inside and saw her holding an old, outdated smartphone, smiling through her tears as she looked at it. As soon as she noticed him, she hid the phone behind her back, wiped her tears, and walked past him without saying a word.
All of a sudden, he couldn't help but wonder if she had taken that old phone with her when she moved out of Phoenix Villa. The thought gnawed at him, and he immediately called his housekeeper to confirm.
The response he got was, "Mr. Hamilton, there's no phone in the storage room- just sodds and ends. I didn't see any phones." As soon as he heard that, a dark cloud slowly settled over his heart. "Well done, Nadine! Do you feel accomplished havingwrapped around your finger like this?" he thought to himself.
As the man struggled to keep his anger in check, the door to his hospital room swung open. Nadine walked in, dressed in a white coat.
Usually, she wore a blue nurse's uniform, but today she had on a white doctor's coat. Her hair was tied up in a simple bun at the crown of her head, and she wore a face mask without a surgical cap. Only her eyes and forehead were visible above the mask, making her petite face appear even smaller.

But then the thought of being Jack's substitute crushing back, and he quickly schooled his expression into one of indifference. His voice was clipped as he asked, "What are you doing here?" His tone wasn't exactly harsh, but it wasn't friendly either.
It was mainly because he had never seen Nadine in a doctor's coat, and he wasn't
quite used to it. He couldn't help feeling that her curvaceous figure shouldn't be hidden beneath that white coat.
Nadine clenched her hands in her pockets and then relaxed them. Truth be told, she didn't want to face Brad. But Seraphina was right; she couldn't avoid him forever.
"Brad's just a patient. There's no need to avoid him," she kept reminding ve cornhne kopr herself.
