Chapter 213
-Grayson'’s POV-
‘Leave it alone. You have your battles to focus on, and so does she. Leave it alone, Grayson’
Apparently, learning how to talk myself down from doing something reckless had stuck after spending too much
taround Isabella. That was exactly what | was trying to do right now. | kept repeating the words in my head
like a mantra, trying to convince myself to let this go.
But then I looked down at the picture in my hand, and just like that, the decision was made.
‘Screw it.’
| lifted my head, turning to Elaine, who was waiting expectantly, “We're going to Italy.”
She blinked at me, “What?”
| was already walking away before she could pressfor details. | pulled out my phone to start making calls.

Elaine caught up to me, her heels clicking against the marble floors. “Wait-what’s happening in Italy? Why are
we going to Italy? And shouldn't we at least pack?”
| slowed my stride just enough to glance at her. “Everything we need will be provided.” Then | faced forward
again. “I don’t have tto waste.”
Because | didn't.
Ricardo wasn’t the sthreat he had once been, but he was still Ricardo. Unpredictable, opportunistic, and
dangerous when it suited him. He wasn’t exactly happy with the way things had gone down, and | had been too
distracted with everything else to hold up my end of our agreement even though | had still released sof my
men to assist with whatever had been set in motion when he decided to fake his death.
But that wasn’t what concernedthe most.
Ava was in Italy.
And Ricardo was with her.
I had more pressing matters to deal with, but none of them would matter if | didn't get to her first.
Elaine kept pace beside me, her brows furrowed in frustration, “You can’t just drop that we're flying to Italy and
expectnot to ask questions, Grayson.”
I didn’t respond, my mind already moving a hundred steps ahead.
She sighed, “Is this about Ava?”
That madeslow my stride, just slightly. | wasn’t about to get into this conversation right now. Not when | was
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtalready trying-and failing-to keep my thoughts rational.
Elaine groaned, “Of course it is. Are we even going to pretend like you're making logical decisions here?”
| shot her a sharp look, and she put up her hands in mock surrender. “Fine. But at least tellwhat exactly you
are uppingand takingto Italy for.”

| picked up my pace again, speaking as | walked. “Ricardo is flying to Italy, With Ava”
Elaine blinked. “Okay, and | know | don’t know much about the dynamics of all you people but aren't you two like
allies or friends or something?”
1 exhaled sharply. “Ricardo is not my friend and the circumstances are complicated. | don’t trust him. She
shouldn't be anywhere near him.”
Elaine gavea look that screamed are you serious? “Ava isn’t a kid, Grayson. You don’t get to decide who
she’s near And let's be real, she probably doesn’t want you anywhere near her right now either. Or so | have
heard. That best friend of her isn’t so annoying when I'm not trying g to pick a fight on purpose,”
| ignored that last two parts.
Instead, | focused on the call | was making. The line rang twice before | got an answer.
“Prepare the jet,” | said, wasting no time. “We're leaving in an hour,”
A gruff confirmation cfrom the other end before | ended the call.
Elaine scoffed, “So that’s it? No plan, no strategy? You're just going to barge into Italy and do what exactly? Stare
at her from across the street?”
That earned her a glare.
She shrugged, “Just asking. | heard about what happened and | am not on team Ava. | haven't decided if | like
her but | don exactly think you would have been sitting around and not gone after her if she wanted to see you.”
1 didn’t need the reminder.
Elaine continued, undeterred. “And what happens if she doesn’t want to see you? Or better yet, what if she
wants Ricardo’s help?”
My fingers tightened around my phone. | wasn’t going to entertain that thought. Ava and | had our problems-
problems | hadn't even begun to fix-but Ricardo? He was not the answer for whatever reason she was with him
for.
And if he thought he could step in and fill the space I'd left behind, he was sorely mistaken.
Elaine sighed, clearly reading my expression, “Alright, fine. But for the record, this is a terrible idea.”
| didn’t care. | was going to Italy.
Elaine and | got into the car waiting for us outside, the black SUV pulling away from the curb the second we shut
the doors. | leaned back against the seat, staring out the window, my fingers tapping against my knee. | was
trying to think, trying to strategize, but the only thing on my mind was Ava.
Where was she right now? Had she landed already? What was Ricardo saying to her? And more importantly-what
was she telling him?
Elaine pulled out her phone, scrolling through something, “You know, if you're going to be all broody and silent,
you could at least put on smusic.”
| didn’t respond.
She sighed, tossing her phone onto her lap, “You do realize that if you show up in Italy with no plan and no idea
what she’s doing there, this is going to blow up in your face, right?”

I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling sharply. “I don’t need a plan.”
She gavea pointed look, “No, you just need to storm into a foreign country, find the woman who currently
wants nothing to do with you, and what? Demand she comes back?”
| clenched my jaw, “I need to make sure she’s okay.”
Elaine scoffed. “Yeah, because she’s so helpless and incapable of taking care of herself.”
| ignored the sarcasm.

The drive to the airstrip wasn’t long. By the twe arrived, the jet was already prepped and waiting for us. |
stepped out of the SUV and onto the tarmac, my eyes immediately going to the pilot standing at the bottom of
the jet’s stairs.
“Everything good with this one?” | asked, my voice even.
The pilot nodded immediately, “Checked twice. No issues, sir.”
| narrowed my eyes slightly, “You're sure?”
“Yes, sir.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm| exhaled, nodding. The last thing | needed was another situation where | ended up stranded in the middle of
nowhere with no way to shift and no way to get off whatever island we'd crashed on. That had been enough of a
nightmare the first time.
Satisfied, | made my way up the stairs, stepping into the jet’s cabin. The interior was as sleek and modern as
always, the spacious seating and polished wood finishes giving it the luxury it was designed for.
Elaine stepped in behind me, looking around, her eyes wide.
“You are actually really rich,” She said.
| turned to her, frowning. “What?”
She gestured around. “I mean, | knew you were rich. You've got the whole company, the estate, the private jet-
obviously. But this is the first tI'm actually seeing it, you know? Like, really taking it in.”
| stared at her. “And?”
She shrugged, “And it’s weird.”
| had no idea what to say to that.
So | just nodded, mostly to end the conversation, because my mind was elsewhere.
| sat down, running a hand over my face as | tried to focus. | had eight hours to figure out what the hell | was
going to do when | got to Italy.
And | still had no damn idea. Had no idea what | was going to say to her but | knew one for sure:
| was about to do the biggest begging of my entire life and even more do something | had never even done
before | locked the world out and pulled up my wall...
| was about to grovel.
