Chapter 230
Chapter 230
-Grayson'’s POV-
“No?”
Ava’s expression didn’t waver, her posture rigid as she stood her ground. She sucked in a slow breath, as if she
needed to steady herself, then repeated, firmer this time, “No.”
For a second, | just stared at her, processing the word like it didn’t make sense. Because it didn’t. It wasn't even
an option.
Behind her, Isabella cleared her throat. “Uh, | think we'll give you both a moment.”
Before either of us could say anything, she grabbed Elaine's wrist and quickly led her out of the room, shutting
the door behind them. Ava took a step back, instinctively putting space between us, but | stepped forward,
closing it just as fast.
“Grayson, | really need to go and check on my mother-"
“What did you mean by no?” | cut in.
She exhaled sharply, irritation flashing across her face, “No. As in a word used to give a negative response.”
| narrowed my eyes, “I didn’t ask for a dictionary definition, Ava. | asked you.”
“Well, | just gave you my answer.”
“Ava-"
“Hey,” She snapped, her voice rising, “don’t cin here and start yelling atlike | owe you something. You
don’t get to do that.” She shook her head, the fury behind her words unmistakable. and you? We are done. |
don’t care if I'm your fated mate or not. | don’t care if you think this is the only way. I'm not marking you and
making this damned connection between us even harder to get out of. Now excuse me, | have to-"
She turned to leave, but | moved before she could take another step.
Grabbing her wrist, | yanked her back, twisting us both until her back was against the door. In one swift motion, |
reached behind her and locked it.
“We're not done talking about this,” | said, voice low.
She blinked, then slowly arched an eyebrow, her expression unimpressed, “You do realize | can just shift and
break the door down, right?”
| closed my eyes briefly and sighed, “Ava.”
“Don’t say my nlike that,” She muttered, shoving at my chest, but | didn’t budge.
| opened my eyes and looked at her, searching her face for a crack in the mask she was wearing.
“I said | was sorry,” My voice was quieter now, but firm, “What else do you wantto do? Do you wantto
get on my knees and beg you to forgive me? Because | will.”
That stunned her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt| saw it-the brief flicker of shock in her eyes before she masked it. But | caught it. She swallowed, then shook her
head, her jaw tightening. “I don’t want your apology, Grayson.”
“You think | don’t mean it?”

“I know you mean it,” She said bitterly, “And that’s the problem.”
My brows furrowed. “Ava-"
“No,” She interrupted, her voice laced with something dangerously clone to exhautum, “I don’t want you to say
anything wbecause | don’t want to forgive you this time.
That hit harder than | expected.
She pressed forward, stepping into my space now, her eyes burning with frustration, with hort. “Then you wear
and yo yourself kidnapped. You didn’t even givethe tto process how much you hartbefore foxoding
myything from you and i told you before that | am done but since we have to deal with Darien, we will figure cor
a way to stop haw. Thenand you? We will be truly done.”
Something cold settled in my chest, something I didn't like.
She straightened her shoulders, forcing the words out like she had already made peace with them, “Co and ich
woher way to break your curse and leavealone”
My hands curled into fists at my sides.
“I am not starting this cycle with you again,” She finished, “Because | am tired, Grayson”
| stared at her, barely breathing. My chest was tight, my pulse a hammer in my ears, but | forced myself to
remain calm
“Fine then,” | said, voice clipped, “When this is over, we will discuss custody of the child. And then I'll leave you
alone?
Her expression shifted instantly, her eyes narrowing into sharp slits, “I thought you didn’t want a child?
“Well, I do now,” | snapped before | could stop myself. My fists clenched at my sides. The thought of agreeing to
walk away, of actually letting her go, made my stomach churn violently.
She let out a sharp, humorless laugh, “Oh, now you do?”
“Yes. Now | do.”
“Okay then. Fine!”
“Fine.”
“Great!”
“Great.”
We stood there, locked in a stare that felt like it could level the entire room. The tension between us spiked
dangerously, like a lit fuse inching toward an explosion.
| could feel it-pressing into my skin, winding through my bones, this pull that had always existed between us,
tightening with every breath.
I don’t know which of us moved first.
All I knew was the sound of Ava’s frustrated, “Damn it,” before our bodies collided.
Our mouths crashed together, raw and desperate. There was no hesitation, no second-guessing-only fire, only
need. It was fast and hungry, all heat and clashing breaths as | backed her up against the nearest surface.
A shiver ran through her as my hands gripped her waist, dragging her closer until there was no space between
us. She was

warm, soft, the only thing | had craved for days, and the fact that I could finally touch her sent a wildfire through
me.

Her fingers curled into my shirt, pullingdown harder, deeper. It was all-consuming, like trying to quench a
thirst that had been building for too long.
| wasn’t thinking anymore. | couldn’t think.

Her hands slipped into my hair, tugging, and | groaned against her mouth. She was gasping between kisses, her
nails biting into my shoulders, and | didn’t care that this was reckless, that | was supposed to be keeping my
distance, that we had just been screaming at each other-
Nothing mattered but this.
| pressed my forehead against hers, my breathing ragged, “Tellto stop,” | rasped, even as my hands
skimmed down her back.
She didn’t.
Instead, her lips found mine again, urgent, like she needed this just as much as I did.
We were drowning in it.
Her scent wrapped around me, familiar and intoxicating, and | could feel her heartbeat hammering against mine.
The reality of everything-our argument, everything | had done, the words she had said—faded into the
background.
She was here.
And | was never going to get enough of her.
Somewhere in the haze, | heard her breath hitch as | tilted her head, deepening the kiss. The way her body
melted into mine made my restraint snap entirely.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMy grip tightened, lifting her just slightly, pressing her against me. Ava let out a soft sound against my lips that
sent a sharp jolt through my chest, down my spine.
She was kissinglike she hated me. Like she loved me. Like she couldn't tell the difference anymore, and
neither could I.
| could feel her trembling slightly, her breathing uneven. My hands moved instinctively, supporting her, making
sure she was steady. Because she was-
She was pregnant.
The thought barely cut through the haze, but when it did, | hesitated, just for a second.
She felt it.
Ava broke the kiss abruptly, her lips parted, her pupils blown wide as she stared at me.
We were both panting, chests rising and falling in unsteady sync.
Her hands were still in my shirt, mine still on her waist, but there was a flicker of something else now.
Realization.
Like we had just cup for air, like the weight of what had just happened was slamming into both of us at
once.
| swallowed, my throat dry.
Ava licked her lips, still catching her breath.

She paused, “And she has sreally REALLY bad news.”
