| didn’t want to listen to Kane anymore, so | ended the call.

The moment | pulled the phone away from my ear, my knees started trembling. | had to grab onto the wall

besidefor support, trying to keep myself from collapsing.

“He did a DNA test?”

| could barely believe it. How was that even possible? How could the results cback negative?

“He must be lying. He must know the truth. What do | do now?” | muttered like a madwoman, tugging at my hair

in frustration.

| never thought Kane would actually go through with something like that. | assumed he had believed my lies-so

what made him suspicious enough to test it?

Without wasting another second, | left my bedroom and headed straight for my children’s room. As soon as | got

there, | saw Leo and Luna playing together.

“Leo, sweetheart, can you go play with Grandma for a bit? | need to talk to your sister.”

Leo frowned. “Mommy, | want to hear too.” He rushed over, grabbing my hand.

| crouched down and gently ran my fingers through his hair. “Baby, please listen to Mommy.”

He hesitated for a moment, but after seeing how distressed | was, he gavea small nod and left the room,

leavingalone with Luna.

Luna climbed down from the bed and walked toward me.

“Mommy?”

| closed the door behind us, then scooped her up into my arms.

“Baby, | need you to tellabout that day. Can you explain to Mommy how that man took you?”

She shook her head. “No, Mommy. | already told you-he didn’t kidnap me. He saved me.”

“What?” | asked, completely thrown off. What was she saying? How could she possibly think that? He had clearly

taken her to use against me.

“Mommy, | was in the middle of the road, and he cto save me.”

Her words sent a chill down my spine. My arms instinctively tightened around her as | hugged her

close.

My baby had been running in the middle of the road while cars were passing? What if something had happened

to her?

“Mommy, he’s not a bad man. We even had ice cream together. He was really nice to me.”

Hearing the soft affection in her voice when she spoke about him sent a sharp pain through my heart.

If only she knew the truth-if only she knew she was talking about her own father.

| swallowed hard. “Luna, did he pull your hair?”

“What? No, Mommy.”

| hesitated, unsure of how to bring up my real concern. After a moment, | tried again.

“Did he... happen to take any of your hair?”

| needed to confirm my suspicion. Either Kane was lying about the test results, or he had never actually done the

test at all.

Luna tapped her chin, deep in thought. Her eyes suddenly lit up as if she had just remembered something.

“Oh! That day, he toldto brush my hair because it was messy. | used a comb in the bedroom... | think I left

shair there.”

My breath caught in my throat.

How could he be so damn clever?

| gently set Luna down and told her to keep playing, assuring her that I'd send Leo back soon. She smiled and

ran back to her bed, happily returning to her game.

But my mind was in complete chaos. My heart pounded wildly in my chest, fear clawing at me.

| had to wait for my brother to return to the packhouse, and every second of that wait felt like pure hell.

When Magnus finally arrived, | immediately pulled him aside for a private conversation.

Axel was with him, but since Axel was both his Beta and his best friend, Magnus didn’t mind discussing things in

front of him.

“Brother, he did a DNA test.”

At my words, Magnus’s brows shot up. “What did you just say? A DNA test? How?”

| clenched my fists. “That man is more cunning than | thought. He tricked Luna into brushing her hair and took

the strands she left behind. Then he left our pack with it.”

Magnus’s jaw tightened, his expression darkening with rage.

“But-"

“Axel, prepare everything.” Magnus cutoff sharply. “If he dares step foot in my pack to take them, | will

declare war against the Nightfall Pack.”

| swallowed hard. His fury was palpable.

“How did you even find out about this?” Axel asked.

“He just called me.”

“And what did he say?”

| hesitated before answering. “He said the test cback negative.”

“What?!” Both Axel and Magnus shouted at once.

I nodded. “That's what he told me.”

Axel looked utterly confused. “Selene... are you absolutely sure the twins are Kane's?”

“Axel!”

Magnus roared, his glare sharp as a blade. “How dare you question my sister like that? Do you really

| bit my lip, my mind racing. “I think he’s lying. He knows the truth. Or...”

Suddenly, a realization hitlike lightning. My eyes widened.

Without wasting a second, | grabbed my phone and unlocked it.

“What are you doing?” Magnus asked.

“There's only one person who could have done this.” | scrolled through my contacts, searching for a s pecific

number.

When | found it, | immediately dialed.

The phone rang twice before the person finally picked up.

“Hello?”

| took a shaky breath before speaking. “Nathan?”

“Selene? Hey, how have you been?”

Magnus watchedclosely as | cleared my throat, forcing my voice to stay steady.

“I'm fine. | just need to ask you something.”

Nathan's tone turned serious. “Is everything okay?”

| gritted my teeth. “Do you know that Kane did a DNA test?”

Silence.

My nerves tightened, my heart pounding as | waited for his response.

| needed him to say it. | needed confirmation.

“Nathan? Did you change the report?”
