Halsey stood there holding a burnt pot, looking defeated. “I'm sorry. | ruined it. | burned the bread and cheese.”

Madeline opened her mouth to reply, but right then, the doorbell rang.

Shaun reached up and unbuttoned his black suit jacket, slipping it off to reveal a crisp white dress shirt
underneath. He rolled up the sleeves neatly, then walked into the kitchen and got to work.
Halsey watched him, stunned. A tall, handsbusinessman standing in the kitchen cooking -just the thought
of it was enough to make her heart skip a beat.
They always say men who can cook are the most attractive. She was starting to believe it.
She hadn’t expected Shaun to show up at all. Now, being under the sroof again, it was honestly a little
awkward.
Madeline tugged at Halsey's hand.
