Chapter 41 The night outside deepened into an impenetrable darkness, unnoticed until the night had swallowed the whole world outside.

Cyrus stared at his dead phone, and his expression could curdle milk.

Nancy hadn't been in touch all day! It was as if his words had flown straight over her head. Or was she contemplating divorce? When sitting on the bed, Hayley's eyes brimmed with tears as she sobbed, "Cyrus, maybe we should just let it go. I'm not so fragile that I need an apology. People like me, we're used to it." Cyrus' face turned to stone, and he stood up abruptly. "This isn't something we can just let go. Nancy almost caused you to miscarry. Everyone saw it. I'll make her chere and apologize to you. I'll get you the justice you deserve!" With those words, he stormed out.

Hayley watched him leave, a murky gleam in her eyes. Hmph, Nancy must be too scared to apologize. But it didn't matter. As long as Cyrus was on her side, that was enough. She was eager to see what Nancy would do to fight back.

The drive from the hospital to their husually took an hour, but Cyrus made it in forty minutes.

Barely out of the car, he barged inside, his voice thundering. "Nancy! Who gave you the right to skip the hospital visit? You know you almost killed Hayley. You almost turned her into a..." His accusations trailed off as he entered the pitch-dark living room. Silence was his only answer. A sense of dread dropped in his stomach, and he quickly flipped on the lights.

Click. The room was instantly bathed in light, revealing its emptiness.

Realizing something, Cyrus rushed to the bedroom, only to stop dead as he opened the door.

"Nan..." He couldn't finish.

The room was empty, and a growing sense of unease spread inside him.

Cyrus hurried to check the study and the other rooms. He found nothing.

Nancy wasn't home! And her suitcase with her clothes was missing from the closet.

Cyrus' face darkened further. Nancy had run away? Wasn't that just perfect? All because he wanted Nancy to apologize to Hayley, she got mad and ran off. Really? No wonder she never showed up at the hospital. So that was what she meant by asking him to wait.

Suddenly, something caught his eye. He walked over to the table and found a note.

[Don't forget to open the gift I left you half a month ago Nancy.] Seeing Nancy's elegant handwriting, Cyrus crumpled the note and tossed it into the trash, his laugh cold and scornful.

Did she run away but dare to leave a message, thinking it would make him chase after her?

With that thought, Cyrus pulled out his phone and called his men.

men "Find out where Nancy ran off to! Tell her if she doesn't apologize to Hayley, I'm done with her for good!"

After Cyrus hung up, his gaze was turbulent. He did have feelings for Nancy, but she had crossed the line this time. Besides, the child Hayley was carrying was his and Nancy's, too! Sadly, Cyrus was completely in the dark about Nancy's thoughts, and she had no interest in filling him in.

In a taxi in Ardenweald, a voice sounded. "What! You're already in Ardenweald and planning to stay here forever, even starting a new job tomorrow! Oh my gosh, dear Lena, dear boss, are you for real?"
