Chapter 137 He Didn't Like Her

The bagel was almost as big as his little hand, perfectly formed and beautiful. Her gaze fell on his face, dusted
with flour, his eyes shining with excitement.
He was usually so reserved, rarely displaying such strong
emotion.
He was pleased to have made such a perfect bagel.
He looked at her, eyes sparkling, clearly anticipating her praise.
Charlotte, of course, wasn’t one to hold back. She nodded. “You did a great job.”
Julius immediately held it out to her. “This is for you.”
Mabel, watching from the side, muttered under her breath, “Copycat.”
Julius ignored her, focused only on the fact that he had made a beautiful bagel and his mother had praised him.
Did this mean she liked him now?
But Charlotte's response was as indifferent as ever. “Just put it there. We'll boil them all together later.”
There was none of the joy and delight he had expected.
Julius couldn’t help but feel disappointed. He put his bagel down and silently continued his work.

“Alright, you two can go out now. Wash your hands and face! Dinner will be ready soon.”
The two little ones scurried out, and the maid removed their
chairs.

Inside the bathroom, Mabel couldn't help but gloat a little. “Ms.
Lottie likesbest.”
Julius pressed his lips and said nothing. He turned on the faucet and started washing his hands.
But a look of determination flashed in his eyes.
“I'll make Mom like me! I'll do my best!”
The bagels were ready, and Charlotte sat down at the table. Mabel’s misshapen bagel immediately caught her
eye, and she picked it up.

Mabel beamed. “Ms. Lottie, | made this one!”
“Yes, | can see that,” Charlotte replied with a nod. It was quite a unique shape.
It was hard to miss, really.
“Mom, where's the one | made?” Julius asked.
Charlotte paused, her expression unchanging as she scanned the plate. “I don’t see it,” she said finally.
Julius was taken aback. “Don’t you like the bagel | made? Does it look bad?” he asked, his eyes wide and still a

Meeting his gaze, Charlotte replied calmly, “It looks very nice. That's why it’s not easy to find.”
But she didn’t say whether she liked it or not.
Julius was fixated on this point. “But do you like the bagel |
made?”
Charlotte fell silent.
An awkward silence filled the dining room.
When Arthur walked in, he saw Julius looking aggrieved and staring at Charlotte.
“What's wrong?” he asked in a deep voice.
Julius lowered his eyes and said, “Mom said the bagel | made looks good.”
“Uh-huh,” Arthur replied, his expression stern. “And?”
Julius pressed his lips. “Mom doesn’t seem to like it.”
Charlotte's heart skipped a beat, and she gripped her fork tightly. Was Arthur going to give her a hard tand
accuse her of upsetting his son?
If it was like this on the first day, how was she going to get through the rest of them?
Just the thought of it made her anxious.
“Who says that just because you made something, someone else
Chapter 137 He Didn't Like Her Julius looked up at him in surprise.
Arthur continued, “People have the right to like or dislike things, understand?”
Julius looked uncertain.
Charlotte, sitting opposite them, was taken aback but quickly masked her emotions.

Night fell, and Charlotte strolled through the courtyard, pondering her next move.
She had to get to the bottom of what happened five years ago. She'd never done what Arthur was accusing her
of, and she refused to let him keep holding it over her head.
“Ill find the proof and shove it in his face,” she thought, “then we'll see what he has to say!”
Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen. It was
Sebastian.
“Hey, Seb,” she answered, her voice brightening.

“Hey, Lottie,” Sebastian replied. “Things are sorted on my end. You don’t need to worry about getting the money
together.”
“Sorted? Just like that?”
Charlotte was taken aback. Business wasn't her forte, but
she knew Arthur had orchestrated this whole mess. Whether
Sebastian recovered from it or not probably cdown to a single word from that snake.
“That sly, conniving jerk!” she fumed inwardly.
“Seb, you need to be more careful with your partnerships and
investments in the future” Charlotte cautioned her voice heavy

“Don’t worry!” Sebastian assured her. “This has been a harsh lesson, and I'll definitely be more cautious.”

“If you could, wouldn't it be better to break away and start your own thing?” Charlotte suggested suddenly.
Sebastian chuckled. “What are you talking about? It’s not that easy to just go independent. Besides, Mom and
Dad are watching my every move. All | can do is try my best within the Hardwick Group.”
Charlotte felt a sense of suffocation.
By marrying into the Harrison family, she solidified the Hardwick family’s standing in Lanceser.
She had also tied Sebastian to the Hardwick Group, forcing him to work for them, even though the real power
still lay with James.
In her parents’ eyes, profit trumped everything.
Escaping this situation wouldn't be easy.
“Okay, enough of that. Lettell you sgood news. I've got a girlfriend! When you have stime, I'll
introduce you two,” Sebastian said with a smile.

“Great! I'm free whenever,” Charlotte replied, laughing.
If he could marry someone he truly loved, that would be a blessing.
“Okay, I'll set a tand let you know."

Moonlight bathed the earth, the wind rustled through the leaves, and the sounds of insects and birds filled the
air.
Charlotte turned and walked back, texting Diana as she went.
Charlotte: [Diana, can you find out how | ended up in Arthur's room five years ago?]
Diana: [It's going to be tough, but Ill try.]
Charlotte: [Okay, it’s okay if you can’t find anything. Ill just have to wing it.]
After all, it had been five years. The surveillance equipment back then wasn’t as advanced as it was now. She
could only hope for
the best.
It was getting late. She returned to the villa, went to her room to shower and change, and then grabbed a
storybook and headed towards Mabel’s room.
But then, a door next to hers opened, and there stood Julius, his slight figure framed in the doorway. He glanced
at the storybook in her hand and said, “I want to hear a bedtstory.”
Charlotte gave him a cool look. “You have a mother, and you have a father. You can ask your dad to read to you.”
With that, she continued on her way.
But behind her cthe sound of tiny footsteps. She turned to see him following her, a stubborn look on his
face.
Chapter 138 How | Ended Up in Arthur's Ro... Ignoring him, Charlotte opened Mabel’s door, walked in, and closed
it behind her.
Julius gripped his pajamas tightly. He didn’t understand. He had tried to be nice. Why was she ignoring him?

He had rarely had to lower himself like this. As the young master of the Harrison family, he never had to ask for
anything; everything was brought to him.
He thought motherly love would be the same.
Suddenly, he turned and went back to his room. He dialed Sarah’s number.
“Ms. Miller, can you reada bedtstory?”
turing others, but he didn’t practice what he preached.
She didn’t like him. She wanted a divorce, but he disagreed and even tried to stop her.
He didn’t like her, but he wouldn't let her go.
